Lucas Talks Fanta Rebrand

Fanta is probably one of the most recognizable soda brands ever made. From the Fanta girls to the bright bold colors and delicious fruity flavors, they’ve found a way to keep it fresh and fun in almost every aspect of the brand identity.

That’s why it made all the sense in the world when JKR and The Coca-Cola Company pinged our very own Lucas Wakamatsu to take part in Fanta’s rebrand, which was released earlier this month. We sat down with Lucas to find out what it was like working on such a huge project, his inspiration, and more!

Our artists love collaborating with their clients, and Lucas is no different. When asked what it was like to work with the JKR and The Coca-Cola Company teams on such an important project, Lucas said, “Working on a such big project is always scary at first, but the whole process with JKR and The Coca-Cola Company was super smooth and fun.”

We wanted the inside scoop from Lucas on the process he went through to develop these illustrations: “As with any other brand project, this process started by understanding the brand guidelines and how to approach the illustrations and graphic elements in order to make everything tie together. The sensorial abstract shapes were designed to be dynamic and energetic and they guided the illustrations mood, compositions and characters morphology afterwards. I really liked the final result and how the characters interact with the liquid. I couldn’t be more happy with the whole process and the final result!
